Survivors of child sexual abuse need a safe, non-judgmental, encouraging space where they feel accepted, and understood and this is what we endeavor to provide at Meant To Rise.

Every day, thousands of Australians are subject to generational cycles of physical, mental, emotional and sexual abuse. Shockingly, significant portions of those subject to abuse are children and teenagers. In 2017, over 1.4 million people reported being sexually abused before the age of 15.

If you know of a child who is experiencing sexual abuse or have information concerning a person or persons who may be harming a child, please report it now to Police by dialing 000, or tell an adult you trust, or contact Meant To Rise on 0480173527.

If you are an adult survivor and would like support today, contact us and speak to one of our trusted and professional team members who can answer your questions about our services and how we can support you.

Romecca Sawers, Founder of Meant To Rise talks about the impact of child sexual abuse and the importance of healing.

What We Do

We support victims of child sexual abuse to navigate through their journey of healing and becoming an empowered survivor.

We provide a safe, non-judgemental, encouraging space to feel accepted, and understood. With a compatible Support Mentor, individuals can identify choices and practical solutions that are available to overcoming any negative cycles and start to achieve healing. We support persons of all ages, genders, and ethnicities who have experienced sexual abuse as a child.

Support Services

Through support groups, counseling, mentorship, equine and play therapies, survivors have the ability to connect with like-minded people who are actively engaging with programs and initiatives to allow healing for self-love and happiness.

When an individual who has experienced sexual abuse is given the power to choose, feel a sense of belonging, and receives support, they can become empowered.  A survivor strengthens as they become aware of their rights, value, and the important role of speaking up for what they need. This profound awareness enables the opportunity to begin releasing the victim, become an inspiration, and begin their healing to living as a survivor.

Our Vision

A world where all children feel loved, safe and free from sexual abuse. We see survivors healed in peace eternally.

Our Mission

To give hope and inspire healing from the trauma of child sexual abuse. To advocate for survivors, and endeavour to further educate society on positive practices that prevents re-traumatization and promotes healing.

Support Programs

‘Empowered Survivor’ Program

Our unique program begins by supporting a survivor rebuild themselves on solid foundations such as self-love and purpose. We endeavor to reach greater confidence, independence, and healing following child sexual abuse.

The main focus is to develop a healthy mindset and lifestyle that involves participants setting achievable goals, participating in various therapies that stimulate the senses, regulate emotions more easily, and enjoy wellness activities such as mindfulness practices that can benefit their overall wellbeing.

‘Empowered Survivors’ Support Groups

We provide separate men and women’s support groups where social interactions and positive discussions are encouraged to support healing. Empowered Survivors Support Groups foster an open environment where survivors can receive and give advice to one another. Meant To Rise is committed to supporting survivors through each step in their right direction to becoming empowered and healed. We don’t promise to do everything but we endeavour to find the best possible service providers available that will suit particular needs and best outcomes for each person.

“Healing doesn’t mean the damage never existed. It means the damage no longer controls our lives”

Can I just bury it inside?

The truth is NO! The life-altering effects that sexual abuse has on a child is real, heartbreaking, and one does not just get over it. Romecca Sawers, founder of Meant To Rise knows first hand because she to is a survivor. The trauma leaves an imprint that will not just go away despite what some think. At Meant To Rise we believe that HEALING IS POSSIBLE despite the hopelessness felt by survivors and their families. Delaying healing will only lead to long term unavoidable impacts and increase the possibility of becoming a statistic to addictions, poor mental health, self harm, unhealthy relationships, and criminal activity to name a few. As the child reaches their teenage years they may display behavioural challenges, and learning difficulties. If no support is provided and healing does not begin, isolation and separation of self and others may occur, trust in society and self worth will drop significantly and the thought of ever feeling safe may be unimaginable. Upon entering adulthood and becoming a parent there may be the possibility of starting or repeating negative cycles affecting relationship with self, children, partners and others.

Healing from the trauma is crucial for a life of peace and happiness.
